About
I'm currently a Research Assistant at the University of Portsmouth, working on a major AHRC-funded project to explore the influence of Channel 4 on British film culture.
I’m also a freelance film archivist and researcher. I am interested in oral history, documentary and docudrama, radical TV, and representations of working-class life. My recent PhD at Bournemouth University was on the uses of oral history, folklore and dialect in BBC and community radio in Britain.
Recently I have undertaken diverse kinds of freelance work, co-organizing an event on the use of moving image archive material in education; compiling and creating the bibliograpy and filmography for a major book on British cinema in the 1970s; and conducting and analyzing phenomenonological interviews for a project investigating the impact of the televising of the paralympics in the UK. I am currently researching a report on the current state and future of radio archives and radio collections in the UK. I'm available to undertake research or bibliographic work on a freelance basis!
